Students must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or better in basic general education course component OR a 2.50 GPA from a completed baccalaureate program.

The English Education program at Florida A&M University is dedicated to producing accomplished teachers in the school settings. It is designed to prepare middle and high school teachers in English/Language Arts. The coursework focuses on various English content sections, education areas, and English education or methodology. The capstone for the program is the student teaching that is given during the final semester of coursework. This four year degree program permits completers to attain certification in English Education, ESOL endorsement, and reading endorsement which allows them to adequately compete in the changing world today.
The English Education program at Florida A&M University is designed to prepare you to be an English teacher in the middle and high schools if you want to be a school teacher teaching English. You will be granted Professional Teacher Certificater after you complete all the course requirements, pass the General Knowledge Tests and all portions of subtests of Florida Teacher Certification Examination (FTCE) and complete the student teaching (internship).
English education students will develop English language skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, They will take content courses in English and acquire knowledge of literature and language. They also take education foundation and professional courses and ESOL endorsement courses as well as reading endorsement courses. They must learn how to teach effectively in different school settings. Students will practice what they learn of the classroom instruction and management through field and clinical experiences.
